Home for the holidays?

Today my sister, my mom, and I were talking about what we were going to do for thanksgiving. My sister works retail and only has that Thursday off, the day after is going to be busy of course, so she's working. And in my family we have to separate our holidays because our parents are divorced, which makes things a little more complicated. Jackie my younger sister by about 2 years, is celebrating her birthday on thanksgiving as well. Us three girls usually spend the actual holiday with our mom and the day after with our dad, this year is a bit different. Me and Liz, my older sister by about 2 years are planning on going to my dads on Thanksgiving with her son. Friday after Liz gets off of work we will celebrate with my mom, and on Saturday Jackie is coming over for her birthday. Actually I'm not sure what Jackie is doing for thanksgiving, since my sisters no longer speak to each other it makes all holiday planning awkward and very complicated. I'm almost positive these plans may be altered though because things tend to come up. My mom's side of the family always makes last minute plans so something might be going on over there, but who knows. My dad's side of the family is kinda out of the picture.

I guess it's a sign that I'm growing up, but I am complacent with having a so-so thanksgiving, I expect it now. When I was younger I had the most fun possible on the holidays and I realize those days are gone. I had a great childhood, as great as it could be for me, and I constantly long for it. So I guess a little part of me still has those high expectations for the holidays of the whole family being together and everything being picture perfect. Ha!! But I have an optimistic view of things in that I feel things will improve in a different more mature way of celebrating the holidays.
