Never growing up

I want a doggie

so I have been wanting to get a dog recently and i was like right on the verge of doing it, but after looking at a couple of those pet adoption sites that want you to raise your dog a specific way and make visits to your house to make sure you are being a good "parent" I am a little scared. Im not completely prepared for a dog i guess. Some of the things thay want to make sure of is a secured backyard which we dont have at the moment because after we got siding put on our house the side gate doesnt close anymore, or if it does its too easy to open. Also the wall that we share with one of our neighbors doesnt completely reach the back wall of our house. So there is a small gap where a dog could get into the neighbors yard. So basically in order to get that secures yard we would have to make some major changes at least with the fence/gate anyway.
